Lego Wedo Session 2

Lego Wedo Session 2

What are some features you used today to build your devices? How would these features help a person with who may have special physical needs? How can you use what you worked with in an assistive device? Start generating a list of ideas for the assistive device.

  1. My second day at Lego WeDo was as amazing as the first! I learned about the special features you can include in your device. Such as:

1# Connected gears can make anything that's connected to it move
2# rubber bands and gears make pulleys. Which also make things move such as the birds
3# The busher stops axles from falling out of the wheel
4# "turn this way" and "turn that way" also better known as clockwise and counter clockwise make the motor rotate specific ways
5# you may add sound to your device although I haven't learnt how

I also wondered how this would help someone with physical disabilities. Here are how these features would help in a device:

1# you could use the gears and a pulley to help create movement in a robotic arm or leg
2# you could create an audio reader using the sound feature
3# the busher can be used in many devices to help structure the creation
4# attaching anything to the motor can make it rotate if used in device

Some of the creations I was thinking of making are:

    Robotic arm/ leg
    Audio reader
    Can opener
    iPad/ IPhone stand
    Wheelchair
    Self moving utensils
    Stands

  2. My second Lego WeDo session was phenomenal! I learned many different features that are very useful.

    Features:
    1.Motors
    2.Timers
    3.Sensors
    4.Sounds/Messages

How would these help a person with special needs?

Motors will help make the person move something.
Timers can help the person know when to do something if he forgets easily.
Sensors can be useful to a person who for example can't open the door. Put a Sensor the senses a specific distance from the person to open the door and then he walks in.
Sounds can be helpful if a person is visually impaired so he can know what to do when a sound occurs which can also send a message.

    Group Ideas:
1.Make an arm that moves and attach a small sensor which can tell it to rotate a specific angle.
    2.Wheel Chair that moves.
3.A car that guides itself with many different sensors and motors.
4.Walking stick for both Blind and people with mobility issues.

  3. The Session 2 Was Very Fun!There Was So Much New Things I Learned!

    Features:
    1.Motors
    2.Sensors
    3.Messages

These are useful for a person because first
Motors are useful because it helps the person move around
Sensors are useful because it helps the person get through or around objects without bumping into it.
Messages are useful for the person because he or she will know what to do if for example theres a noise infront of it it will know to move away.

    Group Idea:
    Make A Moving Arm

  4. The second time we went was great! I had a lot of fun and I learned so much more.

    The features:
    Sensors
    Messages and sounds
    Motors

These can be helpful for someone with disabilities because...

Motors can help someone with disabilities, for example if someone with disabilities needs to move one object from one corner of the room to another corner of the room they can use a motor so it is easier and faster.

Sensors can be helpful because they can help someone sense something that is in their way. For example if their is an object right in front of you, you could use sensors and know not to bump into that object.

Messages can be helpful because the person would have a list of instructions they would need to follow in order to be successful.

Here are some of the ideas I thought of to make.

    - robotic arm
    - sensored wheel chair

  5. My second Lego WeDo session was marvelous. I learned about many different features which you can use in your device.

    Some examples of features are:
    Features:
    1. Motors and Gears
    2. Timers
    3. Sensors
    4. Sounds and Messages

How would these features help someone with special needs?
A Motors or gears are used to move something. Some wheelchairs use a motor to make the wheels move
A timer is used to help someone remember when to do something.
A sensor can be very useful for a person who can’t open a door so if you put a sensor and they touch it the door will open
Sounds can be useful for people who can’t see so they can listen instead of looking

Some of the creation I might make are:
    Robotic arm or leg
    Stand
    Wheelchair
    Can opener
    Audio reader

  6. I had so much fun at Lego Wedo. I learned a lot about many different features that you can use in your device.
    Some of the features are:
    1. MOTORS and GEARS= Move something
    2. TIMERS= Help someone remember when to do something
    3. SENSORS= Helps someone who can't open a door. ( Like Touch ID)
    4. SOUNDS= Helps people who can't see so they can listen
    5. MESSAGES= Helps the person follow list of instructions in order

    Some Device Ideas are:
    1. Wheelchair
    2. Robotic Arm/Leg
    3. Auto Reader ( Scans the thing you are reading then says it out loud)
    4. Car With Sensors
    5. Shoes With Sensors ( Sense what is in the front, back, left and right than walks safely)

  7. Device ideas are:
    Robotic arm
    Self driving cars.

    Features:
    Timers
    Sensors and motors
    Messages on the computer
    Sounds

  8. My second Lego we do time was awesome I learned how gears work

    Features:motar
    Gear
    Sensor

Gears can help a person if don't have a hand they can move it if they have a fake hand and has gears in it

  9. Features:sensor
    Messages
    Sounds

The sensors are useful because if something was insomones way it would stop.
The messages are useful beacuse it would give the person with disabilities a list of instructions

Some ideas I thought to make is: a sensor wheel chair
    Robotic arm

  10. To build a monkey with moving arms we used: motor, cable connector, Lego blocks,
computer program, gear, pegs, USB connector
The featers of the robotic monkey that we created today were:
    1.monkey could move its arms
    2. monkey made sounds
    3. monkeys responded to the buttons on the computer

These features can help a person who has speacial physical needs as follows:
    1. can help a disabled to do exercise by showing how to move arms
    2. to help a disabled person communicate with others
    3. the person who can not speak can type on the computer and monkey will speak for him

  12. Mt first day was amazing i learned alot of stuff.
    Features:
    -motor
    -sensor
    -messages

How this would help someone with special neeeds:
-motors would make thing easier and faster instead of having to walk to the microwave a motor could reach it from a far disstence
-sensors would help becuase if u fall and u dont know what youre going to fall onto then a sensor could help detict what ur going to fall onto and how to avoid most damage
-messages are helpful because it would give them something to do and hiw to do them so they can complete what they need to do

    Group Ideas:
    -robtic arm
    -sensored wheel chair
